Waiheke Island

Updated: Sep 11, 2018

When in Auckland we took the day and went to Waiheke Island. Be rude not to! With the wharf right across from the hotel we walked straight to the ferry. It only takes around 45 minutes to get from Auckland to Waiheke Island but once you're there, its like stepping into a lush green garden of Eden.

Stunning beaches which are set among green giant mountains and rolling hills of vineyards. What a match made in heaven!! We hired a car so we could do some serious sight seeing in a short amount of time.

We only had time to get to one Vineyard, so we picked ‘Casita Miro Vineyard’. A Spanish inspired tavern style restaurant with views of the vast Vineyards and an outside garden which took from memory 7 years to hand place every piece of mosaic tile!

The menu boasted a great selection of Spanish tapas. We pretty much ordered 1 of everything and I still couldn't pick a favourite. Although the fried goats cheese balls still give me shivers to this day. The homemade house red Sangria also went down a treat! We would definitely come back here in a heart-beat!
